chapters 6 & 7

-Each chapter of the graphic novel has been given a title. Explain why each title was a good (or bad) choice for the chapter using evidence from the chapter to support your answer. If you don't like the title, suggest an alternative.

POWERLESS-I think this was a great title because Peter was powerless to his powers when he was bit by the spider.

GROWING PAINS-I liked this title because he is growing accustomed to his powers and they are still hurting him.

WANNABE-This title is good because that was when Peter went in the ring with the wrestling icon and wanted to be like him.

WITH GREAT POWER-That was when uncle Ben told Peter that with great power, comes great responsibility so that makes it a good title.

LIFE LESSONS-This is a good title because that was when Spider-man caught the guy that killed uncle Ben completely out of rage.

BIG TIME SUPER HERO-That was when the monster first broke though the wall of the school, so it was a good title because that was also the chapter when Spider-man said "big time super hero coming through."

SECRET IDENTITY(REVELATIONS)-That was when Spider-man was fighting the monster and had to keep his identity a secret, so it was an awesome title.

-Explain the theme or "Main Idea" of the graphic novel.

The main idea of the graphic novel is that Peter Parker is trying to cope with regular teenage life as well as having a double identity as Spider-man.

Does Peter have a responsibility to help others because he has superpowers? Why or why not?

I think Peter does have a responsibility to help others because he has great power and as uncle Ben said it with great power, comes great responsibility.

Give your own ideas on what makes someone a hero.

A hero is someone who puts themselves in harms way to help someone. They do whatever they can to help them.

Chapters 4 & 5

-Can you think of a new use for the molecular adhesive Peter developed? Describe it.

Trampoline-when Peter was falling from the grasps of the beast, he let out some web and made almost a bed of it and it was really stretchy, so when Peter landed on it he bounced off it.

-How would you improve the hero Spider-man?

I would make him so his webs were 'natural' like they came when he was bitten by the spider. He truly deserves to have real webs rather than some molecular adhesive to climb.

-What do you think would happen if everyone had the same superpowers that Spider-man does?

I think they wouldn't be superpowers anymore because everyone would have them. it would be like reading, back in the day when only a few people could read; they were looked up to as superiors. Like they were smarter.

-Describe an event that you would have handled differently. How would you have handled it?

I'm not a superhero, but when Peter was being followed by that van I would have turned around and walked right up to that van and say..
"Why are you following me? Is this huge city not big enough for you that you have to follow where i go? If that is the case you obviously need to either get a life or join the club."
Not like Peter and go jumping over the van, part because I can't even get over the high jump bar and part because I'm a klutz and would hurt myself hitting the front of the van.

-Why did you think the author chose to have Peter picked on at the beginning of the story?

I think the author chose to have Peter picked on at the beginning of the story so it was more important when Peter got into a fight with Flash, and broke his hand. It was also so it was less believable when everyone who witnessed it told everyone who didn't witness it. When Peter broke Flash's hand he didn't mean to but it still probably hurt Flash; even though he is a bully.

-What do you think would happen if Peter told Mary Jane that he liked her?

I think he would have been more popular, and if you study the way, in the pictures, she looks at him, you will notice that she likes him back. Later you find out she does in fact like him but she is going out with Harry. You don't see it but apparently Peter has liked MJ since they were kids.

WOOOOW!
